Devotion of the Day

Behold, I will do a new thing.
Isaiah 43:19

Sometimes the ladies decide they need new hats or suits. They have gotten into a rut, they think, and something new would give them a lift. There is a psychological boost in a fresh outfit, as even the men know.

It is possible for Christians to become threadbare in experience. They run on past blessings and eat stale manna. Their testimonies begin to sound like well-worn phonograph records, sometimes cracked and a little scratchy.

We should not evermore be seeking some new “blessing,” but we can get to where we look shiny when we ought to be shining. God likes to do a new thing for us. Many a church thinks it needs a new pastor when it needs the same pastor renewed. Many a restless saint needs not a new pasture where the grass always looks greener but a new thing done in his heart while he lives in the same pasture.

Let God do a new thing for you!
