Saul said to Samuel (I, 15:24), “…I feared the people, and obeyed their voice.” Samuel said to Saul (v. 22), “Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord?” The big issue nowadays is vox populi or vox dei, the voice of the people or the voice of God?
